Blind student Ailee Dixon and her former science teacher, WSE instructional designer Sara Shunkwiler, are now partners in advocacy. Join us for a sometimes-irreverent look at our 10-year disability journey together from bathroom stalls inaccessible to wheelchairs to STEM courses inaccessible to screen readers. We will share the research, stats, and stories behind disability in STEM and how each of us can impact ‘who gets to be’ a scientist. Bring questions on alt text, using AI for accurate accessibility, and how we can design a more inclusive future in STEM. Laughter and ALL questions about disability and accessibility in STEM are welcome!
